About the hotel

The hotel was very strict about check in times. When we arrived at 11am, we did the guest registration first and put our bags away with the concierge. Upon returning after 3pm, we were given the card keys to the room.

About the room

We were given a normal standard room on the fourth floor despite our booking says “Allergy Friendly room” with wooden flooring. Our room looked out to the train station and in the morning you can hear road traffic and bins being collected on bin day. It was a spacious enough room for us to be able to open up both our luggage and still walk around it.

There’s a small TV with many channels including BBC, CNN, Bloomberg and even NHK. A kettle with 2 mugs were provided and there were supply of hot chocolate , coffee and tea. In the mini-bar, the hotel had also provided complimentary bottles of beer (2x) , sparkling water (1x) and still water(1x). These beverages get replenish daily.

There is also a very big wardrobe and shelves for our clothes and a safe. The bathroom is big with a bathtub with overhead shower, a bidet and plenty of space for our toiletries.

Our room includes breakfast and the breakfast spread was amazing. There’s even sparkling wine at breakfast.

The choices include the usual cold meat, salads, cheese, fruits, juice, coffee, tea, breads, pastries, hot food like sausages or bacon, eggs and a self service waffle pancake machine. Service was very good as well.

Why I pick this hotel

The location is next to a Märkisches Museum train station and it is not too far to walk areas like Topography of Terror, German Historical Museum, Checkpoint Charlie and Unter den Linden to name a few. The cost of Berlin hotels are very expensive and this hotel is very reasonably priced at about AUD180-190 including breakfast.

It is also not too difficult to get to from the Tegal Airport using public transport. And who would say no to complimentary beverages.

Overall Impressions

I enjoyed the 5nights spent at the hotel, we used the subway trains when we were going further away and we walked around Berlin the rest of the time. There was also a supermarket about 10mins from the hotel. The only downside for this area is there were limited options for dinner so I recommend having your dinner prior to returning to the hotel.
